Inclusion Films Bakersfield program is a film workshop designed to provide training and career opportunities in filmmaking for individuals with developmental disabilities. Founded by Joey Travolta, the program focuses on hands-on learning in various aspects of film production, including screenwriting, cinematography, editing, and acting.

The Bakersfield workshop, located in a 7000 square foot state-of-the art facility, offers year-round training for adults with disabilities. Participants work on real film projects, commercials and corporate infomercials gaining industry-relevant skills while fostering creativity, teamwork, and confidence.

OUR MISSION

The goal of the program is to help students build professional portfolios, preparing them for potential careers in media and entertainment. A key part of Inclusion Films is its commitment to creating real-world opportunities for its students. Many graduates go on to work on professional film crews within the entertainment industry.

JOINING OUR PROGRAM

The Kern Regional Center (KRC) supports individuals with developmental disabilities by connecting them with various programs that enhance their independence, job skills, and community involvement. One of the programs, Inclusion Films Bakersfield, is designed to train neurodiverse individuals in filmmaking, production, and related creative skills.

How KRC Provides Students to Inclusion Films:

1. Referral Process:

KRC case managers assess clients who may benefit from vocational training in the creative arts.

If filmmaking aligns with a client’s goals, they are referred to Inclusion Films as a potential program.

2. Funding & Support:

KRC may cover tuition costs or provide financial assistance through state-supported programs, like the Self-Determination Program (SDP) or Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act (WIOA) funds.

3. Collaboration with Inclusion Films:

KRC and Inclusion Films work together to ensure students receive the support they need, including accommodation for learning styles and skill levels.

4. Job Readiness & Transition Programs:

After completing the workshop, participants may receive job placement support or transition into employment opportunities in media or related fields.
